When you have a sinus infection or a sore throat you may take a prescription drug or a throat lozenge. If you are anemic, you may add an iron supplement to your health routine and speak with your primary care physician.
However, there are things you can do to help lift your emotional wellness and spirit that needs healing.
Several complementary therapies have been nurturing people’s souls for thousands of years. It is not always possible to measure the successes of these complementary therapies since changes are gentle and subtle.
If your mind is open to different types of holistic healing therapies, you may want to try Reiki. Reiki can help you with an overall sense of wellness and well-being.
Reiki is a healing technique that channels energy in a person’s body to balance spiritual well-being. Reiki derives from a combination of two Japanese words. “Rei” means “Higher Power” and “Ki” means “Life Force Energy.” Doctor Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist, began this form of channeling energy as a way to help patients heal the connection between mind and body in the 1800s.
The many benefits of Reiki are –
- Creates deep relaxation and allows the body to release stress and tension
- Accelerates the body’s self-healing abilities
- Encourages better sleep
- Helps to reduce blood pressure
- Relieves pain
- Removes stagnant energy and brings the body into balance and harmony
- Encourages toxin removal
- Supports the immune system
- Raises the vibrational frequency of the body
- Supports emotional clearing and spiritual growth
A Reiki session will feel different to everyone. Some people report feeling a difference immediately. Participants usually become very aware and present with themselves. It is common to experience a variety of emotional during and after a Reiki session such as –
- Falling asleep while receiving
- Being very relaxed
- Becoming emotional
- Being very chatty (releasing past emotions)
- Have an incredible amount of energy.
A Reiki session can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 90 minutes. It can consist of lying down comfortably on a massage table or sitting in a chair. The Reiki practitioner can either gently places hands on or just above the person’s body. Participants do not have to remove any clothing. There is no massaging or manipulating of the body during a session.
Reiki is not a religion. Reiki is a simple and natural complementary wellness method of energy healing that almost anyone can benefit. Reiki is NOT a substitution for traditional medical help but can complement medical treatment. If you have questions if Reiki therapy is right for you, ask your health care provider.
