#3 Revolved Crescent Lunge or Crescent Lunge Twist (Parivrtta Anjaneyasana) is a challenging balance posture that creates stability throughout the entire body while toning the internal organs and increasing their abilities to detoxify the body.

Benefits: Rinses, revitalizes, and detoxifies all the internal organs including the liver, kidneys, spleen, and digestive system. Creates opening in the chest.

Directions: Begin in downward facing dog (step your feet hip-width distance apart at the back of your mat, send your hips back and up, and place your hands shoulder-width distance apart at the front of your mat). Inhale; bring your right leg high.

Exhale; step the right foot in between your hands. Stack your front knee over your ankle and come to the ball of your back foot, lifting your heel.

Draw your tailbone down and lift your chest up. Inhale as you raise your torso and sweep your arms overhead. Exhale; draw your palms through heart center.

Inhale; lean forward. Exhale; bring your left elbow to the outside of your right thigh. Keep your front knee over your ankle, lift your ribs off your thigh, and press back through your left heel.

Gaze to the sky and stack your elbows and wrists. Inhale as you lengthen your spine; exhale as you twist your chest to the sky. Hold for 5-10 breaths.

Inhale as you return to center, reaching both arms overhead. Exhale; release your hands to the mat and step back into Downward Facing Dog. Repeat this pose on the other side.

Contraindications: Avoid this pose if you are currently experiencing high blood pressure or heart problems, or if you have a knee or spinal injury. Pregnant women should also avoid this pose.
