World Reflexology Week Begins Sept. 21!

It’s never a bad time to incorporate reflexology as a component towards a healthier lifestyle, but as we approach the 11th annual World Reflexology Week, I wanted to take the time to remind you what reflexology is and what it can do for you.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a curative science — the practitioner uses their hands, fingers and thumbs to communicate directly with the patients body through reflex points, meridian pathways and chakra regions. These points, located in the hands, feet and ears, house nerve pathways that communicate with the entire nervous system.

By applying pressure to these nerve pathways, reflexologists can stimulate organs and glands throughout the body. Each part of our body has a corresponding pressure point, and reflexologists create an electro-chemical flow that encourages the target region to relax.

What can Reflexology do for my body?

Reflexology is used to heal, support and maintain healthy bodily function. Patients use reflexology treat symptoms, manage chronic issues, and promote good health. Reflexology can help with health conditions such as allergies, arthritis, back pain, high blood pressure, constipation, insomnia, anxiety and stress disorders.

In addition, reflexology can be used to create an incredible sensation of relaxation in the body, as well as assist in dispelling toxins and create a feeling of balance and harmony. It can quiet the incessant worries plaguing your day to day life, and remind your body how to heal itself of maladies in the future.

What is World Reflexology Week?

The goal of World Reflexology Week is similar to the goal of this blog: to raise awareness of the benefits of reflexology to a population that may not be aware of them. Organized by the International Council of Reflexologists, WRW promotes the holistic healing powers of reflexology.

Many of you are already aware of the beauty of reflexology, but there is no better time to spread the message to new people in need than right now. If you know someone who can benefit from reflexology, or are ready to experience it yourself and understand what a peaceful body and mind really feels like, schedule your reflexology session today!
