Find Relief From Stress with Reflexology?

Find Relief From Stress with Reflexology?Find Relief From Stress with Reflexology?

Everyone’s stress is out of control! In the cavemen day’s our sympathetic system was out of control when we thought we were going to be eaten by tigers and dinosaurs. In Contemporary time we are fighting the clock and our schedules. The body then produces too much hormone cortisol and epinephrine to keep us calm.

with Fei Wu of Feisworld Podcast on Natural Healing and Self Care at Home and at Work

Personally, I’ve always been interested and invested in massage treatment, reflexology.  I participated in various sports in high school, college and needed an outlet for injury recovery.  Though my regular activities today (yoga, swimming, Taekwondo) don’t bring nearly as much physical trauma to my body, like most of you, I still experience varying levels of stress and anxiety from personal life and work. Massage therapy, meditation remain at the top of my list for healthy living. (I recently wrote an article on My Favorite Apps for Meditation)

More Fascinating Facts About the Your Incredible Hands

More Fascinating Facts About the Your Incredible HandsMore Fascinating Facts About the Your Incredible Hands

My reflexology colleague, Bill Flocco, of the American Academy of Reflexology in California, has compiled another list of fascinating facts about hands. There is more information to come.

Let’s face the fact that we take our hands for granted. What can you do without your hands? Not very much. If you observe what your hands do every day, you will be astonished and appreciate the mechanics of your hands from all that they do for you, from typing on a computer to picking up tiny and large objects, to holding and carrying items. Thank you hands.

  • Each hand has at least 129 named ligaments.
  • The hand has 34 muscles that move the fingers and thumbs: 17 in the palm of the hand and 18 in the forearm.
  • We work our fingers by remote control…from our brain

Why Do you Need Microflora or Probiotics?

Why Do you Need Microflora or Probiotics? Why Do you Need Microflora or Probiotics?

In a healthy colon there are on average anywhere from 100 billion to 1,000 billion beneficial bacteria per milliliter or 1/5 of a teaspoon. In a typical American colon, the beneficial bacteria count may be as low as 4 or 5 per milliliter! How can the body remain healthy? Read the full article

It doesn’t. Many researchers believe that declining levels of friendly bacteria in the intestinal tract can mark the onset of chronic degenerative disease. Antibiotics are the number one culprit, but other therapies contribute to the loss, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, chemotherapy agents, and hormone replacement agents. Chlorine in drinking water also destroys colonies of beneficial bacteria, as well as some herbal medicines, such as goldenseal, if taken in a large quantity.

How Reflexology Helps Cancer Patients to Reduce Nausea at Dana Farber HospitalHow Reflexology Helps Cancer Patients to Reduce Nausea at Dana Farber Hospital

When cancer patients face stress, fatigue, or nausea, they may turn to integrative therapies such as reflexology to help ease symptoms. Although each patient responds individually, reflexology can support relaxation and comfort during cancer treatment and offers an alternative to traditional massage.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology uses pressure and touch on the feet, hands, and ears to stimulate nerve pathways and encourage relaxation throughout the body. It is an ancient practice that has developed over thousands of years, according to practitioners Bambi Mathay, LMT, and Theresa Ochenkoski, LMT, who work with Dana-Farber’s Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies.

The Story Behind These Feet – ElThe Story Behind These Feet – El

It’s hard to do a reflexology session on a five-year-old, let along working on his feet when they are upside down. El started to come for reflexology service in March 2016. His parents were concerned with his lack of ability to focus in school and be comfortable in social settings. They thought that Reflexology would help him to keep him calm and focused.
