September 9, 2014 will mark Helenā€™s eighth year as a full-time alternative medicine practitioner and teacher. There is a lot of power behind the number 8. In numerology, the number 8 represents balance, changes, growth and power. The Healing Place is definitely growing and we hope to be a place where you can find balance, power and help to create positive changes in your life.

Helen is incredibly proud to become a recognized alternative healer in the community, where she has helped hundreds of people to find relief from digestive and chronic pain without medication. She also teaches her clients how to incorporate some self-healing practices that they can do on their own.

According to Harvard Medical School reports, there are more American that do not want to take unnecessary medications if possible. More people are turning to non-drug, alternative medicine to solve health problems such as acupuncture, chiropractic medicine, physical and occupational therapies, herbal remedies, mindfulness meditation and music therapy, biofeedback, topical treatments, assistive devices, tai chi and yoga, etc. Patients are asking their doctors what and how to incorporate holistic practices into their health plans.

As part of this growing trend Healing Place is offering affordable workshops to learn how to addresses many common illnesses such as digestive issues, respiratory, relaxation, and more by using reflexology, reiki, chakra balancing techniques and meditation. Her goal is to teach interested people how to incorporate ancient, self-healing practices into their everyday lives.

What is holistic or alternative medicine? It is a system of health care which fosters a cooperative relationship among all those involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health.Ā It emphasizes the need to look at the whole person, including analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual, and lifestyle values. It encompasses all stated modalities of diagnosis and treatment including drugs and surgery if no safe alternative exists. Holistic medicine focuses on education and responsibility for personal efforts to achieve balance and well-being.
