Body language plays a major role in how others view you. The way you carry yourself says a lot about you, including your posture and the way you walk, stand and sit.Think about a pack of wolves. There are different hierarchies within the group, which consist of an alpha male or female (leader) and the omega (lowest ranking animal in the pack). The alpha males are more powerful in stature, and possess dominant qualities that allow it to hold its rank. They tend to open up their bodies so that they can look as big and strong as possible in order to project their dominance over the other pack members. These qualities and characteristics are not only seen in the animal kingdom, but exist within human interactions as well.
Body language has been on my mind since I watched this video bit.ly/1DrI6N4. In the video, Amy Cuddy, a psychologist and business professor at Harvard University, talks about body language and how people are perceived. For example, someone who is confident will have very open body language. They won’t have their arms crossed or look small, but they will instead elevate their bodies, like puffing out their chests so that they look bigger. Someone with negative body language, such as having their arms crossed or slouching will look weaker compared to someone who is portraying positive body language mentioned earlier. People with low self-confidence tend to portray these negative body language attributes.
