I received a call from someone who was desperately looking for help with her digestive problem. She was in so much pain and wanted immediate help, so she started researching online and found the Healing Place.

Without introducing herself, she went into her story and explained how much pain she was in and how she didnā€™t want to take medication.

She explained that she had many digestive issues, including Ulcerative Colitis (UC). For those who donā€™t know what UC is, it is an inflammation of the large intestine. Some of the symptoms include abdominal pain, blood or pus in stool, frequent diarrhea, and fatigue.

She called to ask if Reiki and Reflexology could help her find relief. I told her that these were healing tools, and yes, they could help, but they wouldnā€™t address the underlying problem.

During our eleven-minute conversation, I sensed how stressed and overwhelmed she was. I felt most of her stress came from the heavy burden and responsibilities surrounding her family and work.
She started to cry and asked me how I knew. I told her that I have this ability to hear people’s stories without them verbally telling me. I use the information that I am feeling and give helpful suggestions how to begin the healing process.

Along with my healing tools including Reflexology, Chakra Balancing, Energy Medicine and Reiki, I am also an observer. I have noticed that every health issue has a certain emotional aspect associated with the health problem.

People with digestive disorders have distinct energy profiles, and they have a tendency to:
Ā· Overextend themselves to others,
Ā· They are usually people-pleasers,
Ā· They are very empathic where they take on other peopleā€™s worries and pain,
Ā· Most worry about what others think of them,
Ā· Very little or no personal boundaries,
Ā· Most look for self-approval from others,
ā€¢ Most will have one major concern focus, i.e., finance, work, family, significant other, etc.

To help her to understand the cause of her stress and emotions I suggested that she keep a journal. I have found writing has been very helpful to me whenever I get frustrated or angry. Something about writing out my thoughts and feelings and being able to look at them on paper is liberating. It is wonderful to be able to express emotions without worrying about being watched or judged.

The questions that I ask, and have found to be very helpful to understanding what the underlying problems are:
ā€¢ Why am I mad?
ā€¢ Who is making me mad?
ā€¢ How long have I been mad?
ā€¢ Why have I let it go for this long?
ā€¢ What changes do I want to make?
ā€¢ How and when do I start?

I know that these questions can open a big can of worms, but healing has to begin somewhere. It starts at a basic level of consciousness and mindfulness to make a change.

At the end of our eleven-minute conversation, I still didn’t know her name, but I know that I was able to help her feel better. I told her to stay in touch.
