The Sciatic Nerve

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body, running from the lower back to the feet. The sciatic nerve can get pinched by a herniated disk caused by improper lifting of heavy objects. Instead of using the legs to lift, the back muscles are doing the lifting.

Another cause, a sharp bony spur can grow on vertebrae and squeezes the sciatic nerve and causing pain.
