Support Your Immune System with Vitamin C, D, and Zinc

I began to think about my daily regimen to keep myself healthy. Several things that I do- eat a high vegetable and fruit diet. I drink at least 40 ounces of water a day. I am hoping to increase it to 60 ounces, but I don’t like waking up at nights to go to the bathroom. What is important for me is that I get enough sleep. I have a tendency to stay up too late because it takes me a long time to wind down. I also take daily supplements to support my immune system.

One of the things that helps me sustain my immune system is taking Vitamins C, D, and Zinc. Even though there is no scientific evidence that these supplements can prevent or cure COVID, it can be a protector from this and most common respiratory illnesses. What do these supplements do:

Zinc, Vitamin D and C

Zinc is a trace mineral and a nutrient needed to support organs and cell production. Since our bodies cannot naturally produce zinc, it must be obtained through food, like meat, shellfish, legumes, and nuts or through supplements. Zinc helps to strengthen the immune system and regulates metabolism.

Vitamin D is known as the Sunshine Vitamin and helps maintain strong bones. You need 15 minutes of unprotected summer sun exposure to exposed skin two or three times a week to produce about 10,000 international units (IU) of the vitamin. Along with healthy bones, Vitamin D helps the immune system to fight off bacteria and viruses.

Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid and is an antioxidant needed for a strong immune system.

Please these observe healthy practices also:

  • Wear a mask and frequently wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Be aware of who you are in contact with
  • Drink plenty of water to shed built up toxins
