Healthy Habits Begin Today
It’s never too early or too late to be healthy, but not everyone knows where to start. A combination of diet, exercise, and work-life balance, can go a long way toward improving the quality of your life. There are so many choices you can make to help to improve your physical and emotional health, but it takes motivation and commitment.
Here are some tips to get you started on a road to better health:
Eat Mindfully
A healthy diet is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. Start your day with a healthy breakfast has many benefits. Multiple studies have shown that people who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat and snack later in the day. Know what works for you.
Breakfast doesn’t have to be bland. There are so many choices. Breakfast can be a breakfast bar, a protein shake, or even leftover pizza from last night (my favorite.)
Try thisĀ Chia Seed Oatmeal Pudding Recipe. This pudding can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dessert.

Make Smart Supplement Choices
Sometimes diet isn’t quite enough, especially for those who eat meals on the go or do not consume enough healthy calories. A multivitamin can help support the immune system and provide missing nutrients. Most people are deficient in calcium, iodine, essential fatty acids, folic acid, iron, magnesium, and Vitamins A, B12, C, and D. If you suspect you have a vitamin deficiency, check with your health care provider who can help you to identify which ones.Ā
Common Signs You Are Deficient in Vitamins
- Brittle hair and nails
- Mouth ulcers or cracks in the corners of the mouth
- Bleeding gums
- Scaly patches and dandruff
- Hair loss
Who are Your Support Members?
Improving your health can be a struggle, but with encouragement, it can go a long way. We all need a village of people to love, help, and support us. If your immediate family is not part of your support system, find new members. Everyone needs support.Ā
Move Consciously
Moderate exercise can yield many health benefits from improving mood, lowering cholesterol, and building bone density. Other benefits of exercise include maintaining a healthy weight and boosting your energy.
Start Today
This suggestion list can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Pick one category that you think you can commit to making changes. Start small. Some examples:
Breakfast – Instead of drinking two cups of coffee, reduce to one. Instead indulges like croissant, try whole wheat toast or an egg.Ā
Increase your water intake – Fill 2 cups, 16oz of water and drink throughout the day. By the end of the day, you have drank 36 ounces. Then slowly increase water to 3 cups, then 4 cups, etc.Ā
Exercise – If you walk around the block once a day, increase to two times.
Manage your stress and anxiety:Ā Understanding what triggers your stress and anxiety can help you make lifestyle changes.
Ā These are all minor adjustments to improve your health, and all you have to do is TAKE the next step.
After all, your health is everything.
